Default Secondary O2 Sensor Question

I have a 2004 S2000 and my secondary(rear) O2 sensor went out, will a sensor from a 2000-03 S2000 fit my 04? Thanks for your help.

part numbers are different between 00-03 and 04 rear O2....so get the one you need 2004.

Okay, thanks for the info, do you by any chance know why they are different?

I don't. But OEM Honda PN is different, NGK/NTK is different and so is Bosch.

There is a reason why, otherwise the mfg would all use the same part numbers for the years they fit.

I can only guess because 00-03 is 2.0L and 04+ is 2.2L. The rear O2 basically tells the ecu their is a catalytic converter and its working. Different flow between the two engines, so a different sensor is needed. Just my ed-juh-muh-cated guess

I'm also in need for an AP2 sensor. Last time I did research the connector itself is different. Since the O2 sensor itself is the same, I plan on purchasing the less expensive AP1 sensor and swapping out the connector ends.

The O2 sensor doesn't care about motor size, flow... It's just an oxygen sensor. It's up to the ECU to interpret and readings and make an evaluation of the system.

Well I took my old rear o2 sensor out today and it looked totally different from every o2 sensor I have seen before. There was no shield on it, just a small white tip that protrudes from the threaded part about 1/2 an inch and there's a tiny hole in the white tip, is my sensor busted or is that what they are suppose to look like?
