Default Self correcting CEL???

It came on and it seemed like the engine was idling a little bit rough. I shut off the engine, loosen and tighten the gas cap then I disconnected the ground lead on the battery to reset the ECU. I start it back up and it comes on again in about 30 seconds. I was running some errands couple of days later and it went off. I'm not sure exactly when, I noticed it when I left the hardware store and I know it was on ealier that day because I was thinking about when I could drop ot off at the dealer to get the issue diagnosed. It's been a couple of weeks and it's still not on. Is this common - I hadn't seen any threads on the CEL turning off by itself before.

Probably just a loose seal on the gas cap.
