Hi,

I placed an update with pictures in the S2000 Talk forum. Probably a lot of people want to hear about it.

Can someone more accurately describe the TAP-TAP-TAP sound and give specific symptoms of the #4 cylinder problem? It seems as if it would be something obvious but I'd like to be absolutely sure. I checked the other threads and am left even more confused. A problem like this could cause a lot of people to think their cars are problematic when theyre really not.

Do a search under with the user name (I think):
Barry from Wyoming

He's been writing and documenting this for over a year.

Probably not since the first ones were born 8-9 month ago

I'm glad Honda fixed the spark plug backout problem. I wonder if it ever has anything to do with the #4 cylinder problem? Do the plugs run hotter when they back out? Because my #4 plug was fried.

Whether it does or not, they should give us new motors to run those new spark plugs with!

It's very obvious, the tapping sound. You will ask yourself, "What's wrong with my car?" People will ask you, "What's wrong with your car?".

Hi guys,

Just wanna chime in on thanking all the folks who have drawn together information on these problems. I'm going out tomorrow to get a torque wrench to make sure my plugs are spot on...

I too hope that American Honda decides to be proactive on the sparkplug and #4 cooling recalls.

I think one thing that bears saying is that we should not forget that Honda has taken a risk putting the F20C engine in the hands of 45,000 people at such a relatively low cost. As a community of owners, would we want to chase Honda away from pushing the envelope? I think not.

That said, I am quite sympathetic to the points of view I've seen in this thread. Most of the comments have been confined to the Customer Service aspect of all this, and not the product design issues which got us here. I believe that's the right focus.

No doubt, once the actual engine fixes have been finalized (sounds like the plug thing is!), the US contingent will see how American Honda chooses to apply its resources. If AHM truly views the S2000 as its flagship, we may see a recall. I think we should wait until the end of summer to see what direction AHM takes. As a new owner, I am not comfortable taking an antagonistic stance with Honda at this point, but again I understand your points of view. Best o' luck!
