Service manual differences?
I bought a 2005 S2K from a fellow who included a MY2001-specific service manual in the deal, and I'm trying to find out if the 2005 is different enough to warrant buying one of the 2 manuals currently available from Helm. (Aside from the F20C-F22C mechanical differences, of course.)
Helm lists a "2000-06 S2000 Service Manual," along with a "2000-2009 S2000 Second Edition Service Manual (KA)" and I'm not sure what the differences are between the two. Anyone know?
Also, are either of these incomplete as far as wiring diagrams go? I think I saw that someone was looking for an electrical manual once to get the gauge cluster pinout, but my MY2001 manual has it.
I'm not sure if Honda made enough changes between 2001 and 2005 that my manual is missing useful info.
Thanks,
Wayne

There are a lot of differences between the 01 and 05. I wouldn't use the 01 for your 05.
I myself purchased the 00-09 version simply because it will have everything for all years in case I sell mine and get another year. Or, if i need a part from one year I can see if the part is compatible with another year.

The difference between a first and second edition is 6 months for any particular year. The first edition is promulgated immedietely for dealers to work on the new cars. After any 'bugs', procedures, or typos are vetted, the second edition is printed.
As davidc1 pointed out, if you picked up any manual beyond 05 (06-09) it should contain all pertinent information on your 05.
I have an 09 so I purchased an 09 second edition manual and corresponding electrical manual on eBay for $105. Made an offer. (They send a first edition but I sent it back as I specified the second edition.) The electrical manual goes into much more complete detail than the maintenance manual although the maintenance manual is sufficient for ordinary work and replacement of electrical components. If you want to see the complete circuit breakdown and design you will need the electrical manual.
I happen to prefer the paper manual to work with. I may use my iPad for DIY stuff but having the paper to reference is ideal.

Thanks guys. I'm going to order the 00-06 manual 'cause it's less than half the cost of the 00-09. I'll see how complete the electrical info is as far as which wires go where, etc.
As far as electrical manuals go, Helm only lists a couple, for 06-07 and 08-09. I'm curious if these explain things such as how sensors react to various conditions and work with other components to govern operation of the various systems. Cosmomiller, could you please elaborate a bit on the detail provided, perhaps giving an example of a circuit design?
