Default shifter feels like gears are still engaged

you know that feeling when u just pull the shifter out of gear and into neutral WITHOUT using the clutch?

my tranny often feels like that (esp in 2nd and 3rd) on decel...

what could be the problem here? clutch fluid level is good. is this air in the lines?

I have a MY 00' with 40k miles, and is starting to do the same thing. Im gonna flush the clutch fluid and try a differnt tranny oil, and see if theres a adjustment or a worn part or parts.

maybe you're downshifting too quickly before fully depressing the clutch pedal.

well, your title is a little wrong.

your gears are still engaged even when you depress the clutch. its just easier to shift out of a gear because there's no force from the engine/clutch on the layshaft.

maybe its your synchros...what type of tranny fluid are you using?

i don't think synchro's have anything to do with RELEASING out of a gear into neutral...but if the synchro is MESSED UP, i can imagine it making the release out of gear NOTCHY.

did you read my explanation on ARCCREW about downshifting/layshaft speed, the one denny said was NOOB, but he didn't really know how the layshaft works?

yes, but this is different... clutch pedal is on the floor, pull shifter out of 2nd... feels like i never touched the clutch pedal. but, eventually when the car gets to a complete stop, i can shift out with no resistance.
