Shifter Shaft snapped
So I got my Titanium RnD shift knob looks great wanted to put it on. Well I head out to unscrew the oem shift knob and it won't budge an inch. So I grab a 14mm wrench to hold the bottom set screw and begin to twist the knob. It moves slowly as I'm expelling all my strength to move it centimeters. So after about 4 or 5 turns I snap the shift knob clean off the shaft. Luckily there are still a decent amount of threads left on the shaft and I can install the new knob but WTF it's not like i wrenched the knob on there why would it be so tight.

Your description makes it sound like you were physically applying pressure with the wrench. If I had to guess, you had the lock nut bottomed out against either the end of the threads or the knob. I find it hard to believe a person could snap the shifter with bare hands, it had to be misuse of the wrench.
I had to use the wrench to keep the whole shaft from spinning so i took the set screw dow. And bottomed it out and then used the wrench to hold the screw which in turn held the shaft. It looks like the guy used lock tite on the threads.
