Shifting from 1st to 2nd
Hey guys,
Got an MY00 AP1 S2K that tends to "crunch" from 1st to 2nd below 5k rpms. Even shifting between 4k and 5k rpm as recommended by others causes intermittent crunch.
This only happens from 1st to 2nd upshift below 5k RPMs.
Feels buttery smooth at 9k RPM... and during downshifts into 2nd. Double-clutching feels fine too.
Already greased my shifter, clutch fork, and slave cylinder;
Fresh clutch fluid;
Clutch pedal freeplay set;
Amsoil trans fluid
At this point I feel that this is a driver error, any tips for the 1-2 upshift, or should I just continue to double clutch?
Thanks.

Right then, please this is to all owners of these wonderfully 'mechanical' cars, There is a man named Bob Houghton who is a Ferrari engineer (he now runs his own business for them) most owners mentioned a 'crunch/baulk' sound/feel when going into 2nd gear.....Bob's advice was simple....with all manual Ferrari cars, you never ever go from 1st to 2nd, instead you go 1st to 3rd and you do this until the car has warmed up which you'll know it has when it slots into 2nd without so much as a whimper, the same applies for our cars....after a few days of driving you'll start doing it without thought. Hope this helps you all ;-)

People say not to skip shift with the s2k trans. Also, Ferraris have this thing called torque, which was an afterthought with this car it seems.

The torque is nothing to do with it.......Have you tried driving along at 30mph in 6th gear? itll happily do it although the moment you go any lower it does indeed need 5th.
These folk who suggest no skip-shift, are you seriously telling me that you'd be going along at say 50mph in 6th waiting to overtake but then going to 5th then 4th and finally 3rd? not a chance, you blip the throttle to rev match.....and you're on your way.

I suggest you do a bit of research on skip-shifting and the S2000

May I suggest an alternative version of the Ferrari Technique? The variation is to avoid skip shift upshifts (because lack of grunt, because bad for syncros, and because bad idea to lug a cold engine).
Drive it like normal until it warms up and the issue goes away, and just deal with the crunchy shift into second until then.
The only thing this doesn't solve that the Ferrari technique does is easing the minds of those that just spent a considerable sum on a car, and feel it shouldn't have such rude manners.
