Default Side marker bracket

One of my side markers is a bit loose. On the front edge, I can pull it out away from the fender. It doesn't come out far, but I'm worried that at some point it's going to get pulled out or break. I can push it back in but it won't stay for long. I'm not really sure what piece or pieces I would need to fix this, and how big of a job it will be. I'm assuming some sort of bracket is broken but I'm not sure.

Does anyone know what part I will need? Is it worth buying a new side marker set (to go clear from amber, Silverstone car) and just replacing the whole thing?

I will try to get a picture tonight for better detail.

Thanks!

As far as I know, there's no bracket, just a plastic clip on the marker itself. I imagine that you'll simply need to replace your side marker.

This mentions reusing a socket.

Would that work or do I need the whole assembly? If so, any recommended places to buy?

It is just got a plastic tab on the inside. If you take it out typically you will break it if you don't go the correct direction. They only come as a single piece. The socket is the part that plugs into the back. Be careful if you take it out and drop it inside the fender. It will be a huge PITA to fish back out without taking the finder lining off. I wouldn't worry about it. If you are good reason to buy some clear ones

I had that happen to me. Bought another oem clear set off ebay for 15 bucks. And used a wire coat hanger, bent to shape, to fish out the wire. Broke the clips twice already.

Might be a good time to get the clear CR markers from your local Honda dealer.

This is what a broken one looks like. There's small tab on the trailing edge (left side). This is fixed. There's a flexible tab on the leading side (right). This is side that breaks. Instead of looking like a backwards 'J', it should look more like a 'U'.

The gray plastic part is the socket. It holds the bulb. It (normally) doesn't function to hold the side marker in place. (It the clip breaks, the side marker can fall out and dangle by the wire. In this case it's holding the side marker from falling out completely.)

That is exactly what you need if you want to convert to clear instead of amber side markers. You will need 2. They send the amber bulbs so that the side markers still flash amber when they are on. You can also find "silvered" amber bulbs so you don't see the amber bulb color through the clear lens.

I'm OK with amber bulbs, my car isn't going to be winning any shows anytime soon.

I plan to use a binder clip to keep the wire from falling back inside. The last thing I need is to spend hours on a ten minute project!

Thanks everyone for the help and photos! I'm glad to see it's just a simple replacement, and I'll order a set of clear markers this afternoon!

If the wire falls through the fender. It shouldnt take more than a minute to pull it through with a wire coat hanger or something similar.
