Side Marker Question

I just replaced my side markers with clear ones. I was wondering if they are suppose to only be on when you signal or are they suppose to be on when you turn on your lights? Thanks in advance.

They work with turn signals only.

Only ricers have side markers on with headlights because they 'added' them on to their cars...
