Use the quick search function (not the "advanced search"). This has been discussed to death.

The single makes more power, is lighter and is also considerably louder. The dual looks cool though.

if you think about manifold design (exhaust) a single pipe is going to have smoother air flow and be less restrictive. The straighter the pipe is the more power it will make due to less restriction. On NA cars a little back pressure is good to help torque, but all boosted cars the less restriction the better

Ok, so if you don't have FI then is better to have a little back pressure i.e. dual exhaust?

Holy freekin' moly... I cannot believe the way these myths wont die...

First... there is nothing about a single outlet exhaust that inherently makes more power than a dual exhaust or vice versa. Nothing. There are too many other, more significant, factors in the design of an exhaust system that are responsible for what helps power and what doesnt.

Second... backpressure is never ever ever a good thing. A "little" doesnt "help torque" or anything else. And it doenst matter if you have forced induction or not. Repeat after me: backpressure is bad. backpressure does not help low end power.

Please... stop the insanity.

If any exhaust, either single or double, is not designed and dyno tested properly, it can hurt your performance.

[B]I dont know where you get your information from but on an exhaust that is a tuned exhaust system for an NA application does need a little back pressure to build torque at low rpm.
