I often contemplate about this question myself ... So, what's the story?

Someone posted the website for Consumer Affairs a while back for the "Tornado thingy"....

While there, I looked up a few other items, among them Slick 50...they concluded that the claims made by that products manufacturer's were completely unprovable. They were required to remove a series of claims made on the bottle and in the commercials, as the product does nothing useful. They can still sell it, they just can'ty claim anything definite anymore.

consumer reports found slick 50 totally useless when used as directed.

I to was interested in oil additive such as Slick 50. I my research I could only find one oil additive that has seemingly credible independent test data to back it up - that additive is Excel Plus. If you are considering an additive, check out their web site at excelplus.com.

the consensus seems to lean against not using these products like Slick 50, Z MAx, ProLong.. etc..
just a waste of $.

Thanks for the replies, lucky I didn't make a purchase mistake and put something useless or probably not even good for the F20c block. This poll itself gives a significant product insight.

I can say from actual experience here that it is CRAP!!! I used that garbage when there was very little negative data on it. The Slick50 does make a difference, a negative one. I used it on a 90 300E MB which was only a year old at the time. Caused the motor to burn many quarts of oil which it did not do previous to the slick50 additive. It also created more oil sludge in the motor which I could see when I opened the oil cap. Had to take it to the dealer to have the oil flushed and all was well again.

Just goes with the old saying, if it's too good to be true, then it probably is.
