Default Slight grind/notch in first 2 shifts normal?

I just bought a 2001 S with 15,XXX miles on it. The car runs great except for a slight grind/notch between the 1-2 shift. Between the 3-4 shift there is just a slight click and then the rest of the gears are smooth as silk. Just wondering if this is normal or has occured with anyone else. Is this the second gear grind issue in the TSB? Or is that a real harsh grind that can't be mistaken? I'm bringing the car to Honda for an inspection and service this week but just wanted some advice before hand. Any help/advice would be great. Thanks.

I have the same thing with my 2001. Irt was suggested that I change out the trans oil to GM Syncromesh. Have not done it yet, but will this week.

I second the suggestion to change to GM Synchromesh. That stuff is awesome, but the Honda dealer won't do it for you. You will either have to do it yourself, or take it (and the 3 qts of GM Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid and 2 new crush washers) to a lube shop.

I'm not sure what size the crush washers are, but if you go to any Honda parts department and ask for the crush washers for the 1) tranny drain plug and the 2) tranny fill plug, they will have them. You can also find them on www.handaaccessories.com

The GM Synchromesh does not have any viscosity specs on the bottle (neither does the Honda MTF), and I haven't been able to find the specs on the web either. There is no tellin' what it is (10W-30, 10W-40, etc.). All I know is that I've had it in my tranny for over 4K miles, and it is great!
