Default Slow Acceleration

Hi, it was 90+ degrees today as I got off of work and I had my AC on in my car... halfway home, my car seemed to get sluggish like it didn't want to pick up at all(totally different from how it usually is with AC on). It almost felt like something had muffled up my intake box and air wasn't passing through. I checked that and nothing seemed to be different. I'm completely stock btw. Kinda clueless on this because I went to buy oil and man, I was at a dead stop and I went to accelerate, the car did move, but there was a good 2 sec lag before it went normal again. That time, AC was off. Anybody have any idea what this is all about? I've only had the car for 2 weeks now and it only has 12k miles on it. Oh and it's a 2004 model.

Please any info would help, I really hate dealing with dealerships.... they'll be my last resort if this keeps up.

Thanks ahead for any replies.

heat soak. your stock intake sits right on top of the radiator. Happens to s2ks quite a bit- had same thing on my rsx also.

I concur with the heat soak diagnosis. I usually blip the throttle just a bit before the light turns green to get the air flowing before I have to get the car moving.

This is heat soak...

This is how to fix it...

A cold air intake should solve the problem as well, or you can just dump the clutch at 7000 rpms... that works too.

I have that Hondata gasket thing and it work pretty well. My car never really bogs now unless I hard drive the car and have have to take a short stop.

I used to bypass all the intake manifold heaters on my Integra. Is that commonly done in the S2k's? You have the throttle body and IAC heaters that are easy to get at. I think there's a 3rd one too.
