Thumbs up Sluggish Acceleration

Ive got an 05 with 6000 miles on it. Recently the car just wont accelerate as quick as it used to. I do drive the ar hard every once in a while but im sure it was built for that. I drive it hard but i dont rape it. I have no mods..... can you guys give me a clue as to what could be wrong?? I dont feel that surge of VTEC anymore in higher gears. Should i take it to the dealer and have it checked??

I sometimes feel the same, but you get used to VTEC after a while

But if you cannot keep up with a Civic anymore, go and have it checked out

If you equal a WRX/350Z/another S2000 or that kind of cars, you're OK

I'm waiting for all the "My car does the exact same thing, waiting for update" replies.

You're fine.

Keep driving it until 10k miles and see if you have the same "problem." Maybe it's still breaking in?

Check your air filter element, I replace it with drop in K&N air filter after the stock air filter is done with. Just clean it and reoil it with K&N cleaning kit when it's dirty.
I'll feel the difference right away.
Wait til 10k before u use syn-oil.

Well, I've used the K&N and it makes no difference. If you look around, there are reports that K&N's suck as aircleaners too. That they load up quickly and don't filter fine particles as well as a paper element. K&N is walking away from oiled filters too. Their new filters aren't oiled because people were killing their MAF sensors (which we don't have) with too much oil.

If you're not running premium gas all the time, power will be down. If you use the same gas station all the time, change and see if the performance comes back after a few tanks. Some gas companies cheat on their premium.
