This is only true when the oil is at operating temp.
Depending on the temp you start the car in there can be huge differences between oils.
The 0W oils "win" in that department, IOW they are the thinnest below operating temp.
Especially when that start temp is below 15C.
And please don't start crying that 0W's are TOO THIN.
Please.
In other words, your oil will be as thick as it needs to be at whatever temp it's at.

Yeah, most of the threads about engine oil are a few years old, Im also curious to know what people are using nowadays. I just put royal purple 10w-30 a couple of hundred miles ago. I read that with RR its either hit or miss. Im not sure if my case is a miss but the engine is a little louder than it was before I change the oil, I hear more ticking noises now. Im thinking about putting in Amsoil. Would it be ok to take out the RR with a couple hundred miles of use and put back into another car? is that too risky?

when Honda wrote their manual the only real choices were 10w-30 and 5w-40. Today we have a greater spectrum of viscosities that would have met Honda's standards in 2000, so you can venture out of the box as they say.
If you are running it only in warm weather months you don't need to consider too many viscosities. My rec's in no particular order are Castrol (German made) 0w-30 - high quality easily available over the counter. Amsoil 0w-30, Redline 10w-30, Amsoil 5w-40 are all excellent quality boutique oils. Mobil1 10w-30 high quality OTC oil. I can't find Castrol Edge in our parts yet otherwise I'd recommend that as well. I don't personally believe most of what I hear about Mobil1, suffice to say that your engine will not wear out prematurely due to a fault with Mobil1 - it's a good oil at a fair price and easily found OTC. You can flip a coin and pick an oil and I doubt you'll have any engine problems as a result.
If you only run your car a few months of the year like myself, go for the best quality oil you can afford (Amsoil, Redline), you're probably talking about 2 oil changes per season so the added cost isn't a whole lot. I've got about 500 miles on Amsoil 5w-40 right now, the engine sounds like a fine Swiss watch, I hope to test it out by mid summer and see how it held up.

castrol edge or the regular syntec
not sure how cold it gets by you, but there is the 0w30 Castrol (made in germany) which would be better for cold starts. It can be hard to find though.
