Default Soft Top install question

Hey guys, I recently installed a soft top and I had a question about the rubber trim. When I was taking off the old top off, I noticed some sort of adhesive to stick the rubber trim on the metal plates.

When installing the rubber trim, did you guys put some sort of adhesive or tape or anything to stick it back on? When I put the trim back on, it seemed kinda loose. What did you guys do?

this forum doesnt seem to get as much traffic as other forums ive been to. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I'm worried about putting the top down and the trim falling off while driving. Which would then mean my window wouldnt seal properly and winter is obviously coming up so I don't want leaks.

Those rubber seals fit in a groove on those plates. if not installed right, they could come off. if they are loose, they are not installed right. don't want to loose those, they are expensive. i don't think i would use glue on them.

Ya I saw the groove but it doesnt seem to be a tight fit. I can drive with the window down but where the 2 trims meet, one of the trim looks like its off track. ALSO when I took them off to replace the top, there was some kind of glue or foam or some sort of adhesive on it. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

I've never seen glue on the ones i've done. yeah those seals can bea pain to get installed right. made me cuss a few times. all else fails, glue them. it's not like you'll need to take them off any time soon hopefully. if you do glue them, use 3m 1300 to glue them. its made for weather stripping.

Oh, ok, thanks a lot. 3M it is. I drove with the top down on the freeway today and nothing flew off. So I think I installed them correctly?

For mine i had to hook one edge, then tuck the other edge under the metal with a small screwdriver. After this the end of one side was not 100% flush, so i used a single dab of black silicone and it worked fine!
