soft top shape problem
does anyone know why my soft top has these dimples in them?
when i look at the inside of the soft top it looks fine, but the outside it just seems like there is too much cloth which makes it dimple in like that.

bugs the shit out of me haha

The rear bar is not pushed all the way back. looks like someone didn't install the straps when they put the new glass top on. I dont think the Pre-02 Frames had the rear bar straps. Just push the bar back and it will take up the slack.

Nutter butter is exactly right.
If those straps are off, OR they are on the wrong stud, the top will look like that.
There are 11 studs wrapping around the back of the car. Those straps should be ONE STUD BACK from the front of the car. I'll bet the back your straps are on the FRONT STUDS.
You will need to completely gut the interior to fix it.
Each panel of the interior blocks another. The CORNER SHELF pieces are the last to come out, and it is these that are hiding access to the straps.

You can see two bars in your pic showing through the top. They are close together.
When the strap relocation is done, that back bar will line up with the seam in the top and she will look great.
Obviously the car has had a soft top install. Hope they didnt seperate your roll bar hoops also

so i removed the straps and moved it to the one in the back, it does pull the bar further back but there is still some gap inbetween the soft top. it feels like its not pulling it as far back as it can but when i try to force it it wont budge and the strap is really tight already

Your profile says you have a MY00, which originally came with a plastic rear window.
It's possible that the conversion straps were not installed properly or not installed at all.
Check out Clovis' DIY on the FAQ/DIY thread. The nylon strap, in addition to being on the second peg from the back, should measure 24" from the bar.
Also, please show us better pictures of the top from inside the car. The top conversion looks like it wasn't done correctly from the outside so it's also possible that the inside flaps and straps were also incorrectly installed.

It will take you at least 5 hours at my guess.
You'll need to pull the seats, center storage, roll hoops, rear tray, and the 2 corner trays, and the 3 metal retaining beams. It's almost as much work as doing a full top.
I have a DIY in the stickied FAQ section that will likely help you.
