ok guys well heres the story. About 2 weeks ago some fucn kids vandalized my car which included cuttin my soft top (thankfully nothing was missing). So I was searching on craigslist and found somebody selling a softop and frame off an ap1. He said the only problem with it was that the plastic window was cracked and ripped, and the actual black canvass was in good condition. So my question is to you guys is, can u change the top from an ap2 to ap1 and just switch the plastic to the window. and also could u JUST SWAP out the canvass and keep the frames n everything from my current car in.

It sounds to be a really good price for the top itself. In your case, I think the swap has been done before from plastic window to glass. Also using a AP1 top on a AP2 doesnt really sound unreasonalbe to me, please correct me if I am wrong. Does the top come with all the hardware?

 

I know it is tempting to do that with the price being so low. But just get a correct glass top. If it was vandalized, most insurance carriers don't charge the deductible.

 

well guys i know its dumb but i only have liability on the car.. 570 for full coverage was just to much for me to pay at the moment. i still have the glass from my top. so basically what i wanna do is just take JUS THE CANVASS black top from an ap1 to my ap2 using my stock frame n jus switch my glass over.

 

from what i have read that is not possible. you would have to keep the plastic window. as far as i know, you cannot just add the glass window to the early ap1 tops. if you can then great. i'm gonna go out and just buy a glass window.

Might do some searching to see what you can find. I don't know anyone who has done this or has even tried. You may be blazing new territory.
