I did this mod on my car over the weekend. It was suprisingly easy and quick, and it compleatly fixed my road noise problem (which had been driving me insane). where as before I was getting large amounts of noise over 60km/h now I can hardly hear any wind noise at 120km/h.

Thanks Hafler

this is a great DIY...took like 10 min to do and noise reduction was significant. best part is that its CHEAP.

Just did this and all I have to say is:

ALL HAIL THE HAFLERMAN! ..I mean, the HAFLERMOD!

I can now have a conversation while gently cruising down I5 at 112Mph. This is great. I got used to hearing the hurricane on MY01 starting at 50mph. Good stuff.

EDIT/ADD:
I used 6M-20mm (Metric) screws from home depot. They also have the same angled head as the OEM screws have so it fit right in the striker bevel. I placed two washers on the top side since if you use a washer on the bevel side it beats the purpose.

Does this only apply to the AP1s? I'm noticing a lot more AP1 guys doing this mod vs AP2 guys.

lol haven't checked on my thread in awhile. Its cool people are still using this.

nak205- I have never messed with an AP2 but i assume it would work just as well as the AP1...not any major differences in that area.

Hop on the freeway. Do 70MPH, windows fully up. Then, grab the soft top center handle and push it down. If wind noise drops, you will know.

Thanks P-CarDriver. This mod is one I need to do. Glad to know the size of the bolts (6mm machine screws 25mm in length). If it doesn't work well enough, I'll try Shopman's idea. Both are great ideas.
