Default Softtop removal- does it affect rigidity?

Hi everyone,

I just fitted an OEM HT and would like to furthur reduce the weight of my car for track duties.

I have removed over 10 softops and frames for glass window conversions so im familiar with the process, but I'm wondering if the frame actually contributes to rigidity in the rear?

I know the cr comes without the softtop but it does have some form of bracing.

Will I lose rigidity without this - implanning on removing the frame and motors etc.

Any one have pics of there cr brace installed too?

Thanks

I doubt the soft top frame adds to rigidity in any way. But the CR braces certainly do.

the chassis is already stiffen due to not having a roof. removing it wont change anything other than weight

here's a pic of the brace. it's a 6 point brace that honda claims to increase lateral rigidity by 18% and vertical rigidity by 94% over the standard s2000 model.

Thanks for the pic it's really helpful. I will take a look at removing the soft top today.

I'd definetly get that cr brace though. If Honda thought it necessary there must be some rigidity in the frame.

I doubt it. I expect there is some flex in the chassis and for the CR Honda found the only way to reduce it was to put a brace where the soft top was.

I will post up my thoughts later. Have you removed the roof frame before Aus? It has heaps of bracing in it's mounting.
