Default Some install for AEM v2

As the topics suggests, I'm waiting for my AEM v2 to come in. I've been searching though the abundant threads and some of the outdated ones have missing links for pics. I have three questions concerning the install.

1) Is it necessary to cut the front air dam off of the bumper for ap2s? I've seen write-ups for ap1 and ap2 and they both cut...while some commenter's say that they don't cut.

2) Can someone post pictures of the drain holes that need to be plugged...I found two so far and they seem rather large for just silicone gel...what plugs would you recommend. The ones they mention in write-ups I can't find, is there something I could get from a hardware store?

3)How well do the injen hydro shields work, their just filter condoms for CAIs. Should I get that or just go with the self-made umbrella method?

Thanks in advance guys. And sorry for being such a noob.

link to your install that took me 10 seconds to find

as for cutting any front section of the bumper, no, you dont have to, youll have to cut part of your inner fender thoguh to get the pipe threw.

The aem angles upwards (the filter) when mounted so i suggest making a dome for it using a used 2L windshielkd water bottle, cut it and mount it so its like a umbrella up top of your aem. You wont need to plug that drain hole in the engine bay.

drain hole in the engine bay, pop your hood, look to the left of where your front bumper mounts are, youll see a open area that you can kinda look down into, that is the hole although being reffered to.

Take off front bumper, Mad this install very easy.

Took me less then 1 hours for complete install and tear down of oem stuff.

good luck and have fun!

^^thanks, my questions were actually concerns from reading that thread. Thanks for the air dam info, I was not gonna install it if I had to cut it. I'll go with the umbrella method, it seems easier and cheaper. As for the drain holes, I'm going to plug them anyways just as a safe measure.

I mean understand you will benifit much more by creating more a ram air effect on your car by simply making a cut out, It works great on the ap1 but I personally just dont like the LOOK of it,

Good luck man and youll notice a huge sound change at 6000rpm.

I hate the looks of it was well. So without the ram air effect, would their be any noticeable change in HP? Would it reduce HP? Even the stock airbox has a ram air effect I believe.

The ram air addition to the oem box is great although you will still see better gains with a cai, pipeing is larger and it is still drawing colder air into the itm. Plus as a bonus, it certainly cleans up the engine bay a lot!

easiest way to do that is just to buy a roll of duck tape, hopefully they have it to match yoru car but white, black, red is easy to find, just tape a small piece over the hole, youll hardly notice it.
