Default some type of suspension issue...control arm?

Ok guys..I have been having some sort of intermittent knocking for some time know when I hit humps in the road and such. Its not always...very random..but it seems to be happening more often lately...now I was looking around to make sure everything was tight and I looked through the gap in my wheels on each side at the control arm...and I noticed that the one on the left was not seating on that bushing like the drivers side...I was sitting on COMPLETELY flush ground. Also I feel it is necessary to mention I have 75k miles on the car, its a 2001 and its been lowered with espelir springs...Im wandering if its a strut or something but It doesnt feel like its bottoming out..so take a look at the difference between these two pictures...the passenger side and the drivers side..this worries me..is it normal for them to vary and if not what does this mean?

Hey, that's your ball joint coming out! hit any large bumps lately? It could happen due to defective manufacture, though, too. You need to get this control arm taken off, ball joint pressed back in (or better yet, replaced, while you're at it), then control arm reinstalled, and ball joint nut tightened.

After that, drive for a coupla miles, nothing hard, just a regular cruise through the streets, then retighten it, and then put the cotter pin in ( or the original clip instead of the cotter pin).

Then, take it to wheel alignment. Or say goodbye to your tires, like, soon.

Good luck!
