I would change the tranny fluid with Honda MTF, bleed the clutch fluid with lots of fresh DOT 3 brake fluid, and change the differential fluid with LE 1605, M1 75W-90, or AMSOIL SVT 75W-110. I really suspect that it is your clutch that's the problem if you are having trouble getting into gears though.

Honda makes more than one MTF.

This is what you want.

With the clutch in, pull back into 4th gear, then neutral, then try reverse.

Works like a charm.

Use the Honda MTF. Be sure to get the one with the white cap as it is the latest product. There is still alot of old stuff out there.

I'll go sometime this week to get the trans changed. Hopefully that'll solve my problems.

In addition to a fresh load of MTF, check the clutch to make sure that it is disengaging fully. The clutch hydrolics might need bleeding.

I would try changing the clutch and trans fluid. I've got 170k on my stock trans/clutch and sometimes the 1st and reverse are a little difficult first thing in the morning. I usually slide it into 2nd before trying 1st or reverse. I used to have a grinding issue in 2nd when it was hot, but that went away when I started using Redline MTF. Good luck.

While you're having the transmission oil changed ask the mechanic to check the level of the hydrolic fluids (clutch and brake) and ask him to check the clutch to make sure that it's disengaging properly. If the clutch engages smoothly, about half way between the floor and full release, you're *probably* OK, but since you may not know what a properly operating S2000 clutch should feel like, it would just be easier to have it checked rather than doing it yourself.

I'd try a fresh load of Honda MTF before looking at alternatives, simply because it works well for most S2000's.
