Default Something weird going on with my dome light (Resolved)

So, I got new bulbs, I did a clean of the metal connectors inside the light unit (scrubbed them for better contact) and my issue is this.

My dome lights work perfectly fine in the following scenarios:
- When I switch to the "On" position.
- When I physically press both light buttons
- When I unlock the car with the key driver and passenger sides (physically turn) lights will come on with doors shut.
- When I open the passenger door

The lights do NOT work in the following situation:
- After I unlock the door and the lights go off after a minute or two then I open the driver door (lights will not come on)
- If I am sitting in car for a while and the lights are off then I open the driver door (lights will not come on)

Now my car does not have the electronic keyfob I simply have 1 single physical key I need to manually turn to lock/unlock my doors. It looks like the previous owner tried installing some sort of aftermarket alarm system at one point as there is a tiny little red led light in the arm rest that does not light up. What else can I try here to figure out my issue? I tried pressing the rubber button in the driver door to see if the lights come on but I get nothing. I am kinda at a loss here.

EDIT: Issue has been discovered. My cable that connects to my door jam button has came disconnected from the button and the cable has fallen inside the car.

do your doors autolock after 30 seconds even if you open your driver door?

door pin may be unplugged/dead?

I honestly have not tried that as I didn't know that was a thing with this car. I will go try it and report back

Nope, door remains unlocked I let it sit for 5 minutes to be sure, doesn't auto-lock itself.

I took a quick video to show you guys what I mean. I apologize for the breathing and lack of light it's 30 degrees and raining and very dark outside and I dropped my keys ha also apologize for the shitty vertical recording. As you can see the light comes on fine when the passenger door opens but not the driver door.

As mentioned by Deckoz, check the door pin on the driver's side. Also, not sure if the auto-relock feature works without the FOB. Good luck.

Agree with Deckoz and Hfreak——since everything works like its supposed to except when you open the driver’s door, it’s very likely the door pin switch on that side.

here’s a writeup on how to take it apart and clean it—-

I had the same issue on my passenger side. This fixed it. The images are visible, they're attached at the bottom in the first post. Basically take apart the switch and scrub/sand all the metal contacts, reassemble and done.
