Default Speedometer conversion

I have recently imported a 2004 S2000 from Japan, and have almost completed the UK conversion.
The problem I have is that the speedometer is rated for KMH only. The UK speedometer does both via a switch. The switch is in place, but they have craftily disabled it. Has anyone been able to enable the switch?
I have purchased a converter chip which just multiplies the speed sensor signal to output miles, but would prefer to get to the root of it and enable both.

The Helm ETM doesn't get into that much detail about cluster functions. If you could get another cluster to compare it to, you may be able to find the differences on the board.

Can't just stick a USDM cluster into it?? Second hand should be no more than 150USD? I got mine for that much....

USDM cluster for an 04 only goes to 8k RPM (US is the only one who got the 2.2L if I am not mistaken). You would have to use 03 or older. I don't know if the connectors match?

I was actually thinking of trying to find a European '04 cluster with the 9k tachometer to put it on my car! I miss those 1000RPM's soooooooo much!
