spoon lsd
here is the deal!!
I blew out my rear end and had to replace my diff lsd and final drive gear..
so i put in the spoon lsd, and my final drive is a 456 ratio and all new bearings and seals.. Honda did the work...this is like the noisyest rear end i have ever had, when i turn corners it does not click it thumps really bad, and it kind of sound like it did when i broke it, there is a whining and grinding with the sound, but the sound goes away when i drive strait only when i turn or hit corners.and when i hit corners the rear feels really really lose like it is going to kick out at any time..
the guys at honda sayed that this is the way it is supposed to sound but it can't sound this bad, it is spoon for god sake; did they do something wrong and not want to own up to it or is this set up supposed to sound like this.
when i go around curves at like 90 kms , it feels like it is going to kick out every time it clunks really hard.i know they used honda diff fluid for the diff could this be why.
I figured if honda did the work it would be done right, can anyone help please.
Anyone have this experience..
best regards ...

hmmm my buddy has the spoon 1.5 way lsd and it seems pretty fine to me...feels more stable than oem lsd...maybe its the honda diff fluid they use?? i think your suppose to use some special type of fluid for the spoon lsd..i dunno just my 2 cents on trying to help
here's the deal i put iin the spoon lsd also w/ the j's racing 4.77's when i put it in man did i think something was wrong! then i called the guys at aj racing where i bought it they said it is does sound this way. so you should try some better diff fluid for lsd's. also you should change the fairly regular so get a little manual hand pump cause you gonna do it regularly if you drive hard. also do some figure 8's every time you change the fluid to lube the gears. also the best thing that i also did to quiet it down was to add some AMSOIL slip lock additive. this stuff really made a world of difference in the sound. as for the handling i love mine other wise i would have gone back to my stock one. good luck
The Lsd tends to make a lot of noise when it is brand new. Your suppose to change the oil when brand new at intervals of 100km, 500km and 1000km..
I got my instalelled a few days ago. It makes a thumping noise as well, but it's because it's NEW.. It will go away later with more fluid changes.
You don't have much to worry about. Anyways your suppose to run in the lsd and not drive that hard brand new.

you have a clutch type lsd...It is supposed to sound like that...If you make a small turn with the clutch engaged, it should not make any noise. The clunking noise is normal for the type of lsd that you have...Check out the kaaz lsd website for proper break in procedure...
thx guys..

Kaaz lsd isnt that great...I use motul and am very happy with that. You really cant go wrong with motul or redline...Change the honda fluid out of your diff asap. Break in with the new fluid and change after roughly 30 days...have fun
so what is adventage of this clutch type LSDs over stock Torsen LSD??
I thought Torsen LSD has many adventage over clutch type... such as faster torque transfer, quiter operation, more durable..
