I have a set of Spoon magnetic drain plugs for the engine and transmission that I plan to install. One is shorter than the other. Anybody know which one is for the transmission and which one is for the engine?

The longer drain bolt is used for the transmission and the shorter one is used for the engine.

I am finding very few particles of metal on each drain plug, probably slightly more on the trans plug, but still very few. Someone has posted that there is a rather large magnet somewhere in the transmission already. Whether or not the metal particles trapped will help the engine last longer, I really don't know.

Griot's garage also has a magnet that is placeed on the oil filter, but the magnet seems very weak. FilterMag.com has some supposedly strong magnets for the oil filter application.

I have an ITR, I use the longer one for engine and the shorter one for transmission.
