Spoon N1 exhaust
Do any of you spoon N1 exhaust owners have any positive negative experiences with the exhaust that youu would like to share?
I am seriously considering getting one but would like to know:
Is it too loud? Loud is not a problem unless it drones excessively and sounds like a fart being played backwards.
Does it sound good? i hear everyone raving about how awesome Js exhaust sounds.
What is build quality like?
Are there any noticeable gains? Dyno and but dyno.
Thanks in advance.

It's loud at redline, but that isn't the problem.
It drones severely at 4-5k rpm. Literally makes your ears hurt.
This noise will damage your hearing and it just isn't worth it.
With the top up I couldn't take it for five minutes.
With the top down you'll still be hurting within 30 minutes.
It has noticeable redline performance gains though,
a good track exhaust (if you're wearing a helmet to muffle it).
I switched to a Mugen. There's a dual muffler on
this car for a reason, other than making it look cool.

I've one fitted at the same time as a Spoon manifold.
Pros:
- Sound when the exhaust is on song - from about 5000rpm+ I'd describe it as the world's largest super bike.
- Smoother feeling power delivery. This is probably more due to the manifold, but I've found the throttle action much more progressive and friendly when adjusting using the throttle on track.
- Saves a nice amount of weight.
- It's very well made and fits perfectly.
- More low down torque (again in conjunction with the manifold). I change gear a little less when cruising now.
Cons:
- Boomy at certain rpms. Between 3-4000 rpms, especially when just pootling along. Particuarly on the overrun when the ECU's cut fuel - add tiny amount of throttle so the ECU adds some fuel and it's quite again. I wouln'd say it's ear hurting. I was at a UK track day on Saturday, and my car was one of the quietest there. Sure, it's quite loud, but I think it's the boomy nature of the sound that some people won't like.
- Single exit, if only having one tailpipe bugs you. (I don't mind - I'm not looking at the back when I'm driving!)
For me, it was the right choice and I love it! However, whether you are happy with the exhaust at low rpms, when it's not on song is a personal thing. I'd say the best thing is to try get a passenger ride in a car running the exhaust already. It's the only way you'll know.

Yeah, what Brian said but mine is a bit noisier (i think) because i've removed the cat.
I thought it was very loud but i've learnt not to get into the throttle so much and change up before 4000 rpm (boom time) if I want to stay quiet.
Sounds like no car i've heard above 6000rpm

I just got this exhaust from Mingster and I love it!!!! The weight savings is a lot (almost 40lbs) and you can't beat the quality of a Spoon Sports product. Pretty much all single outlet exhausts will be loud, but the spoon isn't loud compared to some of the other exhausts i've owned. (3" straight pipe to a turbo APEXi N1 Muffler!)
The tip is small, so its not too flashy, very subtle. Probably the best exhaust i've ever bought.

Don't buy the Spoon for the street. Get a dual muffler.
Hear me now and believe me later
(because you won't be able to hear me later).
Highway cruising speed in 6th gear is at 4-5k
rpm, right in the drone zone. You can't avoid it.
It hurts, as in "ouch that hurts".
Imagine an F-15 making a low pass at an airshow,
or a Harley with open pipes going by at full throttle.
Cool the first time, maybe the second, the third time
you'll need to put your fingers in your ears.

Mecha,
The exhaust is not bad at all, at least not as bad as you say it is. Sure it is loud at times, but only from the cockpit. People have ridden in cars right next to me and couldn't even here the exhaust. I love it! If it gets too loud for you on trips, then put in the silencer that Spoon supplies with the exhaust, and the noise is back to stock. Simple as that....
