Thanks for the tip, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm going to take out the divider as well... I just doesn't make much sense to have it there.
If you don't have the "L" shaped tube in place, then the divider makes little sense. Honda designed this airbox to be many things. One of these is a "water trap". If you look at the "L" tube and how it lines up with the intake horn, you'll notice that there is a slit on the bottom surface of the passageway. The "L" begins slightly raised. Anything heavy like water, will fall down the slit and air goes through the "L". The water in the first chamber then falls out the hole at the bottom of the box. There is also another hole in the filter chamer for water that might get past the first trap.
There was a method to Honda's design. If you changed one part of it, the original design purpose is defeated. What else you do won't really matter anymore.

I ran the snorkel (actually THE snorkel XV is referring to) for about 1 year with great success. Then I moved on to the AEM CAI. The snorkel was a prototype made of carbon fiber provided to me by Richard Ming (Import Developement) and was a Spoon knock-off. It worked very well as should the Spoon unit. Tech 2 Motorsports makes a really slick carbon fiber sheet that accomodates a snorkel and sellsfor about 175 bucks.
