if you spun a bearing your connecting rod is done, most likely the crank too.
Unless you caught it in the supremely early stages.
One I spun earlier:
O yeh new block, easy as pie right?? lol. Can anyone give me any indication to HOW LONG they had the engine running to what extend their damage was. I just wanna know do you get like INSTANT extensive damage, or after a few minutes? or does it take a bit more. Or is it just like asking how longs a piece of string?
When you spun the bearing, no way you can stop the engine in minutes.
I guarrantee you drove the car a lot of miles before identifying the problem....it's normal for all of us.
Cylinder scoring can happen anytime in any given situation when you spun the bearing. I know you are worried, there is nothing you can do except open the bottom and hoping the cylinder is ok.
That's all you can do and hope.
There is no time table when this things happens.

Hey Prolux , all this talk about what you can save, and how long the motor was running when the bearing was spun is useless. Take down the pan and have a look, see what is damaged. remove the valve cover and check your cam, oil starvation can hurt a lot of things. You really can tell what price the engine overhaul is going to cost unless you know what needs to be changed. Good luck to you
