Squeaking at idle after high rpms
car - 2000, 105k, just put on new tensioner, various new serpentine belts
The noise is triggered by high rpm driving (6k and up) and then no-load driving (coasting, coming to a stop, etc). Once there is no load, the sqeaking starts - sounds it is from the serpentine. I replaced the tensioner and the belt (twice, with a Dayco and a Goodyear). Sound still remains.
It will continue making noise (like when slowing to a stop light and continues after the stop) until there is a load. Only a slight load is needed to make the sound go away, like if I gently let out the clutch in first to move a couple inches.
I am thinking it is a bad bearing in the water pump, AC clutch or pump or the alternator.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

i think your on the right track but i would also look into the pulleys that the bellt spins on as well. do you have a stethescope (sp?) if not you can use a big ass screwdriver hold it to somthing thats not spinning close to where the noise is coming from and put your ear to it. try this in a few spots untill you find the spot its loudest.
Does anyone know the name of the idler pulley next to the auto-tensioner? I can see it in the honda parts pic for the auto-tensioner, but it is not numbered.
I think that may be the source of the problem. I put a stethoscope on the alternator and the A/C pump but both sounded fine. Same with water pump.
Thanks.
