Default starter or alternator?

my gf's s2000 is having a much more difficult time starting up than mine. it always starts up, but it seems to take a couple seconds longer; it's noticeable.

you guys think i should take a look at the starter or alternator for this problem? the car has 70k miles on it.

+1 For battery.

Starter cranks the engine over and is only capable with a good battery.

Alternator provides power to run the car and charge the battery.

I have had the same problem; my father has a meter so I checked the battery, it was fine I then went ahead and checked the alternator and it was also fine. Last time I turned off my car, and left the headlights on while I pumped gas 5min give or take and the battery was dead? Someone think it's time for a new battery?

i'll run it over to a autozone or something and have them run a battery test first, and report back.

Lots of time a dying battery can show a nominal charge with no load, but when a load is applied it just can't put out the current anymore.
