Starter death?
well I was setting up the AEM EMS for a trial start on my recently completed turbo s2000 project and as per the instructions in the AEM help feature was using a timing light and turning the car over with the injectors off in order to set the ignition timing in the AEM... well after 2 or 3 10sec cranking sessions with 1-2min in between I go to crank one last time to assure the settings are correct and.......
CLICK CLICK CLICK
my starter clicks but doens't turn the car over. My volt meter says 12.7 on the battery for a charge and even with my jump box attached it only clicks. I think the starter took a crap on me.
I plan on picking up a used one off of the boards and doing the krazik DIY install... is there any difference between the AP1 and AP2 starter motor? And also before I go to all the work of swapping it, is there any other thing it could be?
Thanks for you help!
This turbo thing is one issue after another, I am getting so frustrated.

Maybe the bendex is hung up try tapping/hitting the starter with a tire iron a few times. The starter is built just like a Chevy starter and the bendex will get hung up sometimes. It could also be a starter relay you can try switching out the relay.

At least Honda put the starter on the opposite side of the exhaust. When I put headers on my 69 Camaro they would get the starter so hot that the solenoid would not work. I would have to go under the hood and start the car by jumping the solenoid with the tire iron or a long screwdriver
smacked the starter as best I could and then tried starting it.... repeated several times and all she does is "CLICK" I think its done.
Any final thoughts or suggestions before I pull it?

ok pulled the starter. not the easiest thing to do but not as hard as other things I've done to the S.... (such as oil bolt update) anyways... is there anyway to test the offending part before I junk it and buy another?

You are already checking the relay when you turn the key. If the starter clicks then the relay is good. The relay activates the starter.
I took the starter to autozone and they ran a test on it... it came up as good???
Now I am completely unsure of what the problem is. I was turning the car over and letting it rest as I configured the AEM... then all the sudden the next time I went to turn it over, it just clicked. Volts at the battery are good. What is there to test as far as connections from the battery to the starter? Where is the starter cable located on the main fuse box? I assume it is the high amp feed to the starter that is having trouble as there was enough juice to kick the bendix but not enough to make it turn at all. HELP ME.
