Default Steering play/noise

My steering now develops some play and noise. I have check the linkage between the steering column and the steering rack it very tight.

So where does the play/noise come from?

Did you check under there hood? there are 2 links under the hood where I found loose bolts which was causing me to have play in the wheel. I just took those column bolts out and applied some lock tight and threaded them back in. Another issue could be traced into your rack, maybe worn bushings or something.

Has the airbag ever been deployed? EPS light? You can find a clock spring for around $50 used. I've never seen one fail except after the bags fired.
