Stereo issues.
wasnt sure if this is the correct location for this topic.
Having some stereo issues, old owner installed an after market stereo and amplifier.
Shortly after receiving the car ive noticed some problems. The sound tends to drop in and out of volume, it fades left to right, theres a loud popping noise when i turn the radio on and off. and with the radio off or volume set to 0 i can hear feed back that is in junction with the current RPM of the engine........
I havent dug very far into it yet. but can someone please help point me in the right direction?
the head unit is an Alpine and the amplifier is an infinity?
thank you,
Andrew

The feedback that changes with RPM is likely a bad ground on the amplifier (or possibly head unit). Follow the ground coming out of the amp and see where it terminates. It should be at a bolt to the chassis that is sanded/cleaned of any paint. Also that ground wire should be of equal thickness/gauge as the power wire going to the amp.
I have noticed that my amp makes a noise when I turn the car on, I think that may be normal but not sure about your pop noise.
The only thing I can think of on your other issue is the dig into the wiring and check all the connections. Do you have the Modifry thing that maintains the stereo buttons to the left of the steering wheel?

The left controls do infact work perfectly.
Another note is the power, ground, and all of the speaker wires run pretty much directly over each other (quite a mess....) could that cause some issues?
