Default Sticking Radio Door

I have had a problem with my radio door panel on my AP2. The panel will not open with the spring. What happens is I push in on the top left of the door panel and the door only barely opens, then I need to try and pry the door open. Once I get the door to open partly it will continue to open on its own.
It would appear that the spring may be weak. I have removed the door surround and can't locate the spring. Where is the spring and how do I get at it?
any help is appreciated. Thank you

Has this been a problem since you have owned the car or a new occurrence? If not a new problem, it is possible the previous owner replaced the cover and didn't install the spring correctly (or lost it). I remember it being a real pain when I swapped in an AP2 cover. You also may not see the spring unless you take out the hinge pins, but I can't be sure of that.

Is it otherwise possible that the latch is just bad? I think this is a common problem.

Here is the location of the spring. If it is not installed correctly or missing, you will have to remove the hinge pins.
