stiffner tape?

Default stiffner tape?
i just replaced my fender i noticed the tape on the old one...should i buy tape for my fender??and what is the purpose of this tape??

number 7 and 8 its called stiffner tape....what is it for?

It's stuck to the back of the fender to reduce some of the flex of the metal.
