Stock Brakes Problem
so it was football night and i was rushing to a place to watch football..not too fast though..anyway
as i arrived i felt that the car stopped a bit too rough,
i tried to take off to check if everything is ok, then i would come to a standstill as i was pressing the brakes
one more time, the same thing..
i turned it off, watched the football and then after 2 hours the problem was gone..!
But my question is, WHY? and what??
is it that my stock brakes need service or something?
my best guess is that one of the pistons in the caliber got stuck..
but again why? in the racetrack i push it 10 times more..how can a 10min drive harm them..i didnt push them that hard..
should i go check it out? or is it nothing?
has anyone experienced anything like this?

Don't know if this is pertinent or not, but a thought:
I had the rotors turned when I installed new pads, and I started thinking about what warps the rotors.. So now once we come to a stop, I remove my foot from the brake pedal, and use the E brake if needed while waitin.. My thinking is that when we stop, particularly from a faster speed or a lot of stop and go driving, there is a lot of heat built up in the rotors and pads, and if we leave our foot on the pedal that clamps the hot rotor in one spot, leaving the rest of the rotor to cool at a different rate, perhaps contributing to warpage.. Anyway that's how I'm looking at that now.. I have to turn our daughters rotors at least once a year, and I'm going to show her this trick.. I actually don't know if it works yet, but it's certainly worth a try.
In a automatic car, kick in neutral at stop lights and/or use E brake if needed.

will consider a big brake kit..that will fit ap2stock rims..
any suggetions?
any suggetions?
The brackets are a direct mount but you must switch the Accord left side to be used on the S2000 right side to keep the bleeder valve on the top of the caliper. You get 30% more brake surface and more ability to modulate braking for trail braking.
I'm very happy with this conversion. They will fit OEM and any other wheel.

thats not going to stop his sticky caliper issue
I converted my front calipers to the 2003 Accord V6 Coupe type. The project took me about 2 hours of my time, $US 330 to Honda for re-manufactured calipers, $US 140 for new stainless steel brake lines to mate to the Accord calipers, $US 25 for 1.5mm rotor spacers to move the rotor to the center of the caliper and $US 120 for Hawk Blue race pads.

very nice modification/upgrade...
will have it in mind..
a bit difficult to find that kind of accord in my country though.. ( v6 )
thanks for your input

it's not an upgrade. it's a downgrade. that is just so wrong putting low performance caliper on high performance car. That's a NO NO.

can ask you a question? what makes stock S2000 brake calipers high performance? ill tell you, nothing, nothing at all...increasing brake surface area is going to increase performance, period...theres nothing special about stock s2k calipers...your statement was just silly

The S2000 calipers are floating and there are pins that hold them in place. The pins need to be properly greased in order for the caliper to remain centered on the rotor so that each pad is contacting the rotor with equal force. If the caliper sticks on the pins, one pad will be working more than the other. If this is bad enough, one pad will always be making contact with the rotor. Best course of action is to pull the pads from the affected wheel and the other side of the same axle and compare each pad for wear. If there is a great enough difference in wear, replace the pads. Then pull the boots for the pins back and apply some grease. Reassemble and drive.
wat i meant was its wrong putting parts from low performance car on high performance car. Sure theres nothing special about the S's caliper, but there is some reason why an engineer made that decision and it cost money. It would be an upgrade if its aftermarket or from an nsx, but from an accord, really? You see or hear people running v6 accord in tracks? I dont. So, overall it just sounds so wrong.
hey all! thanks for your input
in europe we watch soccer/football .. .. the one where they kick the ball around.. lol
euro 2012?! anww
i ll take it on monday to get it professionaly fixed..i explained the problem to my mechanic and he said its a common problem and can be fixed
if not, i found a used caliper pretty cheap localy and ill just replace that
i also considerd switching to spoon or AP Calipers, but i could use the money elsewhere..
ill keep you guys posted
