The valve stem installed ht. as shown in the service manual is:

Int. Valve Stem Installed Ht.
Std. (New) 44.1 - 44.4 mm (1.736 - 1.748 in.)
Service Limit: 44.7 (1.760 in.)

Ex. Valve Stem Installed Ht.
Std (New): 44.2 - 44.5 mm (1.740 - 1.752 in.)
Service Limit: 44.8 (1.764 in.)

This meaurement is taken from the valve spring seat to the tip of the valve and IS NOT the same measurement needed when setting the valve spring installed height using aftermarket springs.

The dimension used for aftermarket springs is the dimension from the valve spring seat to the underside of the valve spring retainer. I took a quick measurement on a spare stock cyl. head that I have and the number is approximately 1.640 inches (41.6 mm).

I hope this helps.
