The original production 4.57 Richmond gears sold thru Rick's were pretty straight cut - and loud.

His newer 4.56 is supposedly a little different.

Actually they were a low helical cut.

Straight cut gears are a little different and are normally in reference to the transmission gears.

I want to know more about the dog gears available. Not all dog gears are necessarily straight cut, but it is often the case.

Yes. We need information on upgrading the internals on the transmission. Nice info on the diff gears but I mentioned tranny upgrade. I had read a post about someone doing the gears for the S2000 trans but could not find it or have heard of anything since. I plan on puching some high hp#'s and the tranny is the only thing I have not seen upgrades for.

Ahhhh, I got it.

I stand (or actually sit) corrected.

Well the dog gears are stronger, but they do come with a price.
You have to rev match as there is effectively no synchromesh. Shift improperly with one and the teeth will wear or worse chip. There is also the tendency for the gears to get stuck. Not saying all these things will happen, but the reliability is sacrificed.

I hope the Aussies have sorted it out for us.
