I just wanted to give an update in case anyone else has this issue. I removed the slave cylinder and boot and looked into the transmission and sure enough the "fingers" of the clutch fork were bone dry. I put some grease on it and now the clutch operation is completely smooth throughout the range. The car has never shifted better. Thanks for the help!
