Strange Idle problems, only sometimes.
Hi,
my 01 has been doing some funny things lately, This doesnt happen all the time, but its really annoying when it does.
When I drive, and i come to a stop at a red light, as soon as the rpm hits the 800-1000 mark, it drops suddenly to like 400-500 (Dont know exactly without proper instruments, all I see is 4 bars on the rpm cluster) and the car vibrates as if its going to stall... then it returns to normal 800-1000 idle.
Any ideas on what I should check for?
Thanks

check your plugs and wire. If your plug is really bad and need replacing do a "SeaFoam" treatment first then replace your plugs and wire. SeaFoam might kill your plug, but it will clean the crap out of your engine. 1/3 for 5 mins only.
MAP whack comes to mind. Another thing is check the tightness of your plugs, my car started idling like shit when my #2 spark plug started backing out, I caught it before anything really bad happened thankfully. Try resetting your ecu though that probably won't do much.
I have a 2005 S2K and my problem is nearly identical. Just before I come to a stop, depress clutch and rpm decreases considerably. The recovery time is too slow for decent performance. These symptoms occur when the car is really warmed up. Never happened before dealer serviced with new hydraulics and clutch/flywheel.
Dealer says this is normal for S2000. Nonsense, never did it before.
