Default Suggestions for Ap2 Flywheel and What clutch setup?

I have read that the Ap2 Flywheel weighs I believe about 1 1/2 times or twice as much as a Ap1. I have one, but would upgraded a pressure plate help this issue. i know Honda never upgraded the pressure plate and people have issues no their Ap2's with slipping very early on.. I am thinking about getting a Ap1 flywheel and getting the Exedy disc Honda pressure plate I really liked that, but any thoughts on this?

its the clutch delay valve and the flywheel. take out the CDV and then upgrade your PP. i went with a AP1 flywheel and its great now

It is not the CDV - the CDV is different.

The standard solution for AP2 owners is an AP1/AP2 flywheel, ACT pp, and AP2 friction disc and other parts. If you want the revs to move more freely, go with the AP1 flywheel, more "weighted", replace with AP2. In either case, the ACT PP has twice the clamping force over OEM so you will no longer get slip. All the CDV does is relegate driveline shock and removing it is akin the feeling of to hitting a table with a spoon with or without a tablecloth on it, for example. The CDV is more about feel than anything performance related, and its there to protect the driveline from when everyone was killing their AP1 diffs.

Of course, the CDV is easy enough to remove, just swap your slave cylinder with an 03 or earlier unit. Just know its not the reason for clutch slip.

sounds good. from what i read before when i was taking out my cdv, the cdv was causing the slip but i also had changed my flywheel to the ap1. i also just took the cdv out of my ap2 slave cylinder since its free and pretty simple.

ACT HD pp + oem friction disk, ap1 flywheel, and no cdv works great for me. shifting hard feels great.

The Mtoor I got came with 31K on it, so I am using the Honda PP, I just purchased a Flywheel no here from a member ( AP1 ) and on Ebay bought a Exedy OE disc (: it is my favorite combo! Worked well with my F20C.

Thanks guys for everything. If you know anyone that wants a mint Ap2 Flywheel i will take 50.00 shipped, just want it gone I will include the Disc too, its doesn't even look worn.

There's a lot of incorrect info about the CDV on the board. Back in 2004, someone noticed the car drove differently, saw a different slave cylinder design, and made the assumption that the CDV was at fault for clutch slip. People ran with that incorrect assumption because the fix was "easy" and "cheap", but the CDV is not really the cause and those that are honest with themselves and you about it will tell you such.

People have since inspected clutches, flywheels and pressure plates and found the real reason for high-rpm-only clutch slips. The heavy flywheel of the AP2 is too much for the stock PP that was not upgraded when the flywheel changed. That is why you can pop your clutch at 5k rpm and it will bite but if you do the same at 8k it slips, regardless of mileage on the parts.

If you go with an AP1 flywheel, you can go with OEM pp and other parts. Youmainly need more clamping force if you stick with the heavier AP2 flywheel. Either change the flywheel or change the pp - either combination will work.

honestly go with a clutch masters pressure plate OEM disc and AP1 flywheel and you should be fine, even if you go to the track, shopping, or garage sitting

I'm sorry, but you don't need an ACT extreme pressure plate to grab the flywheel.

The CDV regulates clutch engagement. It's extremely similar to how the tilton valve works that you can put inline with the slave. It WILL exacerbate clutch slip on a fast hard shift. It won't cause your clutch to slip though.
