whats the material used in the 00-01 s2000 transmition synchros?

Does this have anything to do with them going bad?

i tried searching but i cant seem to find it, i know i read it somewere.... are they made out of brass?

 

Yes, they're brass. They go bad because people grind gears and/or skip shift badly.
