Default Syncro Replacement

I will be putting a new clutch into my car soon, thanks to everyone who posted info in the How-To so that I can get it done. So, I was thinking, while I have the tranny out, I should go ahead and replace the syncros since I've gotten a bit of a grind. This leads to a 2 part question for me.

1. Can the 04+ syncros be put into an 01 gearbox?

2. Where is the best place to buy them and how much are they?

Also, if someone has done it and has any hints, I'd be much-obliged.

If I replace the syncros, I plan on taking pics throughout and maybe contributing something to the How-Tos myself.

The quick answer is... if you are not an experienced transmission repair person, don't even think about opening up the tranny. This is not a job for a do-it-yourselfer.

1. No they will not fit. Honda changed the tranny to make the change.
2. Honda OEM is the only place to get the parts that I know of.

Probably worth it to send an email to hardtop guy to see if he can get it for you for a little cheaper rather then going to the actual dealer. If you find out how much it is, let me know! I'd be interested in the idea of replacing the syncros too.

The only way Honda sells synchro rings is with a gear set. Each gear set has 2 synchro rings for 2 gears. It's quite expensive. I've got a trans that needs a 1-2 and a 5-6 synchros. The parts alone are $600
