Updating/Backdating
Hi-
This is not really S2000 related but I thought I'd ask anyway. The basic question concerns updating and backdating in SoloII. I've searched the rule book and can't find anything that applies.
A buddy of mine autoX's a early 80's 911 in AS. He's in desperate need of a tranny overhaul and was curious about making some gear ratio changes. Are you allowed to update/backdate to a different tranny that has shorter gearing? Can you simply replace the internals or do you have to update the entire tranny?
On a side note if Honda installed a different (stronger) clutch or rearend in the 2002 could '00-'01 owners intall the newer part?
Any input would be much appreciated.

I do not believe update/backdate applies to stock class. It could get way out of hand in a hurry. Then there is the typical SCCA "Unless it says you can do it, you can't do it."
The Honda question is a good one. It leads me to believe that the '02 parts, if they are different, have a different part number. If that part number is listed as 2002+ only or 2000-2001 my guess is you can't mix and match.
If Honda issues a TSB on the clutch and the '02 model is the replacement, then that's another story entirely. Same as if the newer part (ie: better) is listed as a replacement during normal service.
