Default Synthtic Oil Change Intervals

I have an my04 with only about 7500 miles on the clock. Once I hit 10,000 miles I intend to start running synthetic oil. I only put abot 2500 to 3000 miles per year on the car and I have been doing 2 oil changes per year. One in the spring and one in the fall. When I make the switch to synthetic, can I get away with a yearly oil change? What do you guys think? Just looking for general opinions,

I personally wouldnt suggest it. I would recommend going no longer than 3 months or 3000 miles. Just my personal opinion

I don't think the oil would ever go bad but who can say what happens to the additives over a period of time.? If the're volatile and prone to evaporation, you might lose some lubricating properties over time.
This would be important if you were driving the car. If the car is going to be sitting in a garage for a year, changing the oil would be pointless IMO.

I put about 7k miles a year on mine. I change my oil with synthetic once a year before I put it away for 6 month winter storage. If I were driving it year round, I might be more inclined to change it twice a year.

Conventional oils are good for about 6 months and synthetics are good for about a year so with your minimal mileage driven you can do 1 change per year and be fine.

IMO you could have "gotten away" with it when you were using dino oil.
With syn oil its no problem at all.
I would change it once a year, before the driving season starts.
If you have no driving season and drive it all year round, during weekends or so, just change it whenever you feel like it, once a year.

Use the OEM PCX filter too!

I don't drive a whole lot of miles on the S, so I do 9 month intervals. When I do drive it, I drive rather spirited.

Todays motor oil's are leaps and bounds better than the motor oil's of yesteryear. I would never dream of changing motor oil in a street car after only three months.

According to your owners manual, you can switch to synthetic now. Also, you will have no problem going a year with synthetic oil and the 15400-PCX-004 Honda oil filter. I would recommend doing a UOA with a TBN when you change it after a year, just for piece of mind.
Since you're probably a Steelers fan, either way you decide to go will work fine!

Thanks for the info, everyone. I felt pretty strongly that I could do it yearly and be fine, but theres nothing like some reassurance from this great community to make you feel better. Mobil 1, here I come.

I just couldn't do it only once a year. It's the Fall and Spring for me with 0w-30.
