Default TCT maintenance hole rough inner edge and metal chips

Reading the forum regularly since 2010, now got a reason to write.

Today I installed a sandblasted TCT. Unfortunately Billman does not ship to Europe currently, so I needed at least a temporary solution.

Despite using the "5mm/.80 bolt + nut" installation method, I decided to open the maintenance hole to get a better view. What I saw inside worried me seriously: the inner edge of the hole was extremely rough, giving me thoughts I might even have broken something while removing TCT a week ago. Then I inserted a bare finger through the TCT hole and touched the inside of the maintenance hole: it was very sharp and as I took the finger out, there were even some tiny metal chips on my fingertip.

On first picture, you can see an example of such metal chip marked by an arrow. After that, some shots from different angles.

Question 1: why? Is that "normal" machining or did I manage to chip a big piece off while removing TCT?

Question 2: what next? Assume some tiny metal chips fell into the oil pan (or got stuck on the inner walls). Will oil filter take care of them? Or is there danger of scoring something inside F20C and the engine has to be disassembled and washed? How?

Thats pretty normal. It's a cast head which is then drilled and tapped and the backside of that isn't a completely flat surface, so sometimes you have chips. More than likely the little chips you found were caused from removing the maintenance plug. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thanks, nice to know it's "normal" and hopefully any chips will reach the oil filter soon.
