Default TCT noise?

Hey guys, looking for help identifying a noise on my 2002 S2000. The engine sounds completely normal at idle, but when I give it a quick rev there’s a brief rattling noise for about the first second, then it disappears and the rest of the rev sounds fine. It only happens right when the throttle is applied and doesn’t continue through the RPM range. I’ve read that timing chain tensioners can sometimes cause a similar noise on these cars, so I’m wondering if this could be related or if anyone has experienced something like this before. Any insight would be appreciated.

Take another video, 5 feet away from the front of the car, hood closed.

Even if it isn't, just get the Billman TCT. Ignoring the fact that it's a work of art, it permanently solves the problem. I used to stress about it until I got the Billman and it's just not a thing anymore. If that noise shows up AND you have the Billman, you need a timing chain (according to the man himself). Honestly, it adds a lot of peace of mind.

definitely planning on going with the BillmanTCT I’m just trying to confirm the issue is with the timing in general or not. If it’s timing I’ll order a full timing kit + billmantct but if it’s something else I’d rather tackle that first then refresh the timing. I love this car and I plan on never selling eventually passing it to my kids

You are getting off track.

You do not need a whole timing kit. This is a 20 year old problem.
