Default TCT rebuild

I need to either buy or rebuild my current TCT on my F20C (74000 miles)

Ive read up on the procedure and it seems very straight forward and relativity quick compared to other TCTs ive done.

Is there a kit part number with new springs that i can order from honda?

And should i take the time to tear the front apart and replace the chain guides or will i be wasting time because of miles on the car.

Also, as for the worm gear, ive read that the glazing causes poor oiling to it and the fix is to media blast it. would i be better off sand blasting it or using some fine sand paper.

thank you in advance, Andrew

Billman250 has a modified TCT of his own that he guarantees for life. Sand blasting the worm gear is a quick fix and will last for a bit but will eventually start failing again.

Thanks, Will sand blasting it make it hard to screw back into the piston, or do i need to use a different aggregate for sand blasting.

Yeah id like eventually purchase one from Billman250 but ive got my eyes on a hardtop right now

You don't need to screw the worm gear back in, it just slides in and there's plenty of room around it. The reason you sand blast it is to keep friction up when the oil is flowing over it. Supposedly simply sanding the gear will not work as it doesn't scuff the surface enough.

Fwiw, I sandblasted mine back in the day and have had zero issues with it since, but if it ever does go, I'd just buy a Billman unit.

Well you spin the worm gear to retract the piston into the TCT unit in order to re-install the TCT into the block again. Sand blasting won't really make a difference here anyway.

I can say that Billmans works.

I thought about sandblasting it and all that, but the tick eventually comes back.
Its well worth the money with the lifetime warranty.

I completely agree, but for the mean time i need to do something.

the tick has escalated to a quite loud chain slap at times.
